Julius Carstens JULIUS CARSTENS, Laboratory Director

As Laboratory Director of OEC, Julius’s responsibilities include the daily technical and financial operation of the laboratory, directing the managers of all departments, and providing technical support to OEC’s personnel and clients. Julius holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and Soil Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

Maryann LongMARY ANN LONG, Operations Director / Volatiles Department Manager

Mary Ann oversees the function of all departments and is responsible for the optimization of production processes within the laboratory. She is also the Volatile Organics Department Manager, ensuring all QA/QC parameters are met for all data. Mary Ann has a B.S. in Biology from CSU San Bernardino.

 

ChrisCHRIS BURDICK, Business Development / Field Services Coordinator

Chris supervises OEC’s field sampling program on the Central Coast, managing technicians and scheduling sampling events. He also functions as a Sales Manager by interacting with clients, providing quotations and proposals, and pursuing new markets. Chris has a B.S. in Soil Science/Environmental Management from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

Carrie McCrillisCARRIE McCRILLIS, Quality Director

Carrie is responsible for the quality assurance program at the laboratory. This includes managing certification programs, preparing QA documents, managing PE studies and any follow-up corrective actions. Carrie also maintains training files, performs audits and responds to the needs of clients, regulators or accrediting organizations. Carrie has a B.S. in Chemistry from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

Meredith SpristerMEREDITH SPRISTER, Lead Project Manager / Business Development

Meredith is the head of the Project Management team and is responsible for coordinating client projects, maintaining client satisfaction and reviewing laboratory reports.  As a Project Manager, all project status and technical questions are handled by Meredith. She also functions as a Sales Manager by interacting with clients, providing quotations and pursuing new markets. Meredith has a B.A. in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara.

 

ELIZABETH MINEMANN, Project Manager

Elizabeth is responsible for thoroughly coordinating client projects, maintaining client satisfaction and reviewing laboratory reports. As a Project Manager, all project status and technical questions from the client are handled by Elizabeth. She is responsible for reviewing potential work and incoming work with laboratory managers at daily operations meetings. Elizabeth has a B.S. in Microbiology, Immunology & Molecular Genetics from UCLA.

 

JESSICA GERHARDT, Project Manager

Jessica is responsible for thoroughly coordinating client projects, maintaining client satisfaction and reviewing laboratory reports. As a Project Manager, all project status and technical questions from the client are handled by Jessica. She is responsible for reviewing potential work and incoming work with laboratory managers at daily operations meetings. Jessica has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

Drew Miller

DREW MILLER, Metals / Instrumental Analysis Department Manager

Drew is responsible for the scheduling, maintenance, and verification of QA/QC parameters for the Metals and Instrumental Analysis departments. He is primarily responsible for any new method development, the analysis of proficiency testing (PT) samples, and training of technicians and analysts within this laboratory. Drew has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

LAURA McKINLEY, Microbiology / Wet Chemistry Department Manager

Laura is responsible for the scheduling, maintenance, and verification of QA/QC parameters for the Microbiology and Wet Chemistry departments. She is primarily responsible for any new method development, the analysis of proficiency testing (PT) samples, and training of technicians and analysts within these laboratories. Laura has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

Dwain ZsadanyiDWAIN ZSADANYI, Semi-Volatiles Department Manager

Dwain is responsible for the operation of the Semi-Volatile Organics Department, including staffing, scheduling and the oversight of sample preparation through final analytical measurements. He performs review of all data for methods such as BNAs/PNAs, Pesticides, PCBs, and Extractable Hydrocarbons (TEPH).  Dwain has a B.S. in Chemistry and a Teaching Credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

 

Pete AlcocerPETE ALCOCER, Oil Production Operations Consultant

Pete is the Senior Field Technician for OEC. He provides independent field analyses of crude and refined gas/oil product for oil and gas production companies. Pete’s laboratory responsibilities include GC analysis of hydrocarbons in gases and liquids, and crude oil profiles per ASTM methods.
